Routes
Five Nights at Frickbear's 3 endings, without the guesswork
Endings are gated by items you either collected or did not. This page lists every gate, when it closes, and the exact reason a run ends on the route you did not want.
Verified against v2.0.2
Quick answer
There are five endings: Slacker (default), Money (Talbert's Files plus the rentals), Evil (Vanny's salvage list), Good (the full mask set) and Ultimate (masks, Vanny's list and the files, read rather than sold).
The game evaluates your route at the Night 6 finale and shows you which endings you qualify for. You cannot be soft-locked into a route you did not build, but you can easily arrive with only one option.
All five, compared
| Ending | Difficulty | Decided around | Main gate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Slacker Ending | Low | Nights 1-6 | Clock in, survive, clock out. |
| Money Ending | Medium | Nights 2-5, pays out at 6 | Sell the story before it sells you. |
| Evil Ending | High | Nights 2-6 | Burn it down, with everyone inside. |
| Good Ending | High | Nights 2-6 | Find the masks, free the brother. |
| Ultimate Ending | Very high | Nights 2-6, plus the true finale | The true boss behind the building. |
The three gates
Almost every ending question reduces to three items. Everything else is execution.
- Full FNaF 4 mask set collected. The Puppet hands these out across all four salvage locations.
- Vanny's requested salvage list cleared. The animatronics she asks for by name, not the ones you like.
- Talbert's Files purchased. Must be bought before the Night 5 shop lock.
- Files read instead of sold. Converts a Money route into the Ultimate route.
- Psycho Foe Fredbear defeated. The true final encounter, after the Night 6 finale.
Slacker Ending
Clock in, survive, clock out.
Requirements
- Reach the end of Night 6 without completing any optional objective.
- Do not buy Talbert's Files and do not collect the full mask set.
- Salvage only what you need to keep the office survivable.
What breaks the route
- You finish a route item that Night 6 checks for, which upgrades the ending.
- You deliberately fail a night: a death ends the night, not the run.
Notes from a full run
- This is the ending most first-time players see, and that is fine: it teaches the office loop with the least pressure.
- Treat it as the baseline that the other four endings modify rather than a failure state.
Money Ending
Sell the story before it sells you.
Requirements
- Bank enough tokens during salvage to afford the high-tier shop purchase tied to the route.
- Salvage the Circus Baby's Entertainment & Rentals roster, which carries the highest token value in the game.
- Buy Talbert's Files before Night 5 closes the shop for the finale.
What breaks the route
- You spend the route budget on office upgrades and cannot afford the files.
- You buy the files without the salvage income to justify the route, which pushes you toward the Ultimate route instead.
Notes from a full run
- The Circus Baby's animatronics are genuine boss fights disguised as normal salvages. Budget a full night for each one.
- Because the shop is removed late in the game, this route is unforgiving about late purchases.
Evil Ending
Burn it down, with everyone inside.
Requirements
- Follow the animatronic salvage list that Vanny requests instead of your own comfort picks.
- Reach the Night 6 Salvage encounter instead of avoiding it.
- Survive the post-boss sequence rather than taking the escape that resolves the route.
What breaks the route
- You take the mask route out of Night 6.
- You skip the requested salvages early, which leaves the finale short of the actors it needs.
Notes from a full run
- The route is the most combat-heavy: every requested salvage becomes a nightly problem you chose to bring home.
- Playing Fritz changes the epilogue text, which is why the Evil route is the one to replay as Lunatic if you want every scene.
Good Ending
Find the masks, free the brother.
Requirements
- Collect every FNaF 4-era mask hidden across the four salvage locations.
- Take the Puppet's mask when it is offered, then survive the resulting endoskeleton escape sequence.
- Clear Night 6's platforming section without losing the mask you earned.
What breaks the route
- An endoskeleton catches you and you assume the mask is gone: it is not, but the cash penalty can block later purchases.
- You leave a location before searching its mask spot.
Notes from a full run
- Getting caught during the escape costs cash, not progress. Do not restart the night out of frustration.
- Night 6's platforming checkpoints at each cleared level, so a jumpscare only sends you back one section.
Ultimate Ending
The true boss behind the building.
Requirements
- Complete the mask set from the Good route.
- Complete Vanny's requested animatronic salvage list from the Evil route.
- Buy Talbert's Files before Night 5 ends the shop phase, then choose to act on them instead of selling them.
- Beat Psycho Foe Fredbear; the finale is shortened to a two-hour night because the shop is gone.
What breaks the route
- You reach Night 5 without the files: the game lets you pick Evil or Good instead.
- You stop after the Night 6 boss: the true final encounter only opens when the files are read.
Notes from a full run
- This is the only route that requires all three systems at once: masks, requested salvages and the files.
- If you own the files but miss another requirement, the game still lets you pick between the two endings you qualify for, so you are never soft-locked.
The order that decides it
A route is not a menu choice at the end, it is a sequence of decisions from Night 2 onward. This is the order that keeps the most endings open for the longest time.
- Night 2: decide whether you want the mask set. If yes, search every location before you leave it, even if you are not salvaging there.
- Night 3: start Vanny's list if Ultimate or Evil is the target. Skipping a requested salvage now costs you the finale later.
- Night 4: this is the last comfortable night to farm rental tokens. Circus Baby's is expensive to fight and pays the most.
- Night 5: buy Talbert's Files before anything else. If you cannot afford them, take the Money route seriously and stop buying office upgrades.
- Night 6: the finale resolves the route. Reading the files instead of selling them is what turns a completed run into the Ultimate ending.
Mistakes that cost a route
- Assuming “Good” means doing nothing wrong. It means collecting masks, which is a physical search, not a moral choice.
- Salvaging for comfort on a Money run. Low-risk picks do not fund the purchase the route needs.
- Treating the mask set as optional until Night 5. Some masks are in locations you stop visiting.
- Quitting after the Night 6 boss. The true final encounter is a separate step, and it only opens under the right conditions.
